John Prescott MP opens the New Humber Social Club. The new Humber Social Club, designed and project managed by A C Liani (Yorkshire) Limited, has been officially opened by the Hull East MP John Prescott.

Mr Prescott MP praised the investment in local community facilities as he officially opened the new premises - relocated as part of a major new retail development on Holderness Road.

The club is one of the businesses being relocated by Mt Pleasant Regeneration Ltd - a £200,000 facelift of the former Royal Hotel has brought a run down building back into use and created a new home for the Social Club.

Sheffield based architects and designers A C Liani (Yorkshire) Limited, who have vast experience of refurbishment in pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels, have designed and managed the 12 week project and have overseen the relocation to the new club premises.

Stuart Young of AC Liani said: “This is a great project to be involved with, The Humber Social Club members have much more flexible space now and we hope the club goes from strength to strength in its new home.”

The move has given the club a new lease of life and much more flexible space. Founded in the 1960s on Stoneferry Road in Hull the club catered for employees of Humber Fertilisers, it later moved to the site on Holderness Road before relocating just before Christmas to New Bridge Road.

Mr Prescott said: "I am delighted to be opening the new Humber Social Club; this is a great community facility and part of the wider development which shows how the public private partnership can work."

Managing Director of Mt Pleasant Urban Regeneration Ltd, Mark Dransfield, said: “Everyone is delighted with the new premises and is has been a pleasure to have Mr Prescott visit the club and perform the official opening, we wish the members many happy years in their new premises."

Gerald Moxon, from The Humber Social Club said: “We have had a very good relationship with the developers from day one and we are really pleased with the new premises.”

Relocating to the new premises has secured the club's long term future and given members better facilities and more flexible space.

Businesses are being relocated as part of a new retail development on Holderness Road being brought forward by Mt Pleasant Urban Regeneration Ltd.

Plans are to be submitted later this year for the proposed development which neighbours The Mount Retail Park — the development completed in 2003 by Dransfield Properties Ltd, one of the development partners in Mt Pleasant Urban Regeneration Ltd.
